If you are looking for a get away from it all holiday, then this is ideal. We left wishing we could have stayed for another week. The park is an ideal base to get out and explore the local area.

Accommodation was beautiful, very clean and lovely to come back to after a walk. Perfect location looking over river, very quiet too. Close to Bowness on Windmere and never travelled more than 50 mins to any walks and attractions so good central location. Nice touch with the lodge having it's own barbecue too. Please don't be caught out, make sure you take your own towels. Everything else is provided. Excellent holiday, will definitely be going back.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday to others (in fact we already have!). It is the perfect destination for a relaxing break in close proximity to lots of attractions - you will never be stuck for things to do.

The accommodation was clean, well furnished and the kitchen well equipped for a perfect self catering holiday. Very quiet. I cannot fault this site.

The lodge was well designed, comfortable, extremely clean, well equiped, spacious and private. The only drawback was the amount of travelling that had to done to travel into,say, Bowness/ Winderemere and Ambleside for evening meals. I pass this comments with reservation because I appreciate that not everyone will go out for evening meals;putting this comment aside I highly recommend this site and the lodge. My wife comment is that it was the cleanest lodge/caravan we have ever stayed in and we have been using them for forty years.

Avon wood was ideally situated for all the tourist attractions of which there are many in this area. The lodge, which overlooked Lake Windermere, was secluded with it's own private balcony, beautifully presented and clean and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay a pleasurable experience, there were even matches in the cupboard to light the barbecue. The information books were up to date and covered every type of activity from sitting by the lake eating ice cream to mountain climbing ,overall in an excellent location and well run clean site, due to the amount of things to do a car is a must.

This is lovely tranquil site - so peaceful. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Great value for money - would not hesitate in returning. Accommodation first class and everything you need at hand. Central to all attractions i.e. Lakes, Steam Railway & Motor Museum.

A definite recommendation for a quiet holiday. About 5 miles drive from Bowness on Windermere which buzzes and boat trips available round the lake. Boasts a great pub "The Albert" Hotel in centre of Bowness. Food gorgeous and ale superb also. Avon Wood is a peaceful location on lakeside, would suit boat enthusiasts or those wanting to get away from it all. No on- site facilities such as shops etc. but then there is Bowness and surrounding area. We went to a wedding while there and had to be one of nicest breaks ever, definitely would come back and recommend. The lodge was modern with a state of the art kitchen diner.

Avon Wood in the Lake District is a lovely, no frills park, and it gives you great access to the Lake District. Great for young families!

The holiday was excellent! Very quiet if we wanted it to be on the site, or 5 miles away in Bowness there was all the shopping, entertainment and eating out anyone could want. The walks in the area were fantastic! We didn't want to leave and have already booked the same park for next year!

A very quiet location.The accommodation was very clean and well kept, we did'nt have much contact with the staff as we spent most of our holiday sight seeing, only on arrival and departure but they seemed very friendly, I'm sure if we did need anything they would have been more than helpful.

Very peaceful surroundings if you require peace and relaxation. The lodge was very clean and welcoming, as was the introductory meeting with the park manager who was very happy to help with any questions we asked. Totally satisfied with this holiday and very pleased with the standard of cleanliness.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend it to our friends. We thought the park was quiet and picturesque, it was overlooking Winderemere and a short walk took you down to the lakeside itself. The lodges were spacious and were set out on the park in such a way so that you were'nt overlooked by your "neighbours" - it was lovely!

The park is in a lovely location, quiet and relaxing and the cabins have everything you need, nothing is too much trouble, highly recommended. Have been twice already and will definately be returning, plenty to see and do in the area and a great base for travelling around and visiting surrounding areas.
